The official X account of the Argentina national team took a shot at rapper Drake by using the caption Not like us, not with us in their victory post after defeating Canada in the Copa America semi-finals.
The graphic also featured the phrase Not Like Us.
This adds to the ongoing jokes directed at Drake, including those from Lamar and his fans and for the first time, a national soccer team has contributed to one of Drake’s feuds.
Drake had previously bet $300,000 on Canada to win against Messi’s inspired team and even mentioned Messi in a caption, saying “This could get Messi” with a Canadian flag emoji.
Argentina eventually won 2-0, with goals from Messi and Julián Álvarez.
This is a multi-layered “loss” for Drake, as Kendrick Lamar highlighted his gambling issues in “Meet The Grahams” and also brought up his father’s role in his gambling addiction.
In that same game, Lionel Messi scored his 109th international goal to lead Argentina to the finals.
Julian Alvarez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Messi found the back of the net in the 51st minute after redirecting Enzo Fernandez’s shot past goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau.
Messi has been in incredible form, scoring 28 goals in his last 25 matches for Argentina, with 14 of those coming in Copa America matches, putting him just three goals away from the record.
Cristiano Ronaldo holds the current record with 130 international goals, followed closely by Iran’s Al Daei with 108 goals from 1993 to 2006.
Argentina celebrated its independence day with a victory, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
The Albiceleste will be vying for a record 16th Copa title as they face either Uruguay or Colombia in the final on Sunday at Miami Gardens, Florida.
