Ghanaian footballer and Black Stars captain, André Ayew, has made a return to the French Ligue 1 after agreeing to sign for Le Havre AC.

André Ayew (33) is making a move to return to Ligue 1, eight years after leaving Olympique de Marseille.

After joining Steve Cooper’s squad in February, the Ghanaian international failed to record a goal and appeared in just 13 Premier League appearances in 2018.

Reports say that Ayew will enter into a contract with the club until the conclusion of the 2023–24 season. The transaction is anticipated to be finalised by Ayew on Saturday, november 11, and his inclusion as the newest team member will be announced later in the day.

Homecoming

In 2011 and 2013, Ayew, who was trained and unveiled in Marseille, was notably crowned vice-champion of France. He won the Coupe de la Ligue twice (2011, 2012) and the Champions Trophy twice (2010, 2011) before departing the club for Swansea and the Premier League in 2015.

Following his time with West Ham, he returned to Swansea. After making stops in Qatar (Al-Sadd) and Turkey (Fenerbahce), he concluded his professional career at Nottingham Forest from February to July 2023. Notwithstanding his diminished playing time, he participated in the club’s maintenance and thirteen championship matches.

Ayew, the most-capped player in the Ghanaian squad, is focused on the early 2024 African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Ivory Coast against Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros Island.
