All Foreign Coaches We Have Had So Far Never Helped Us- Derek Boateng

Published on

, Ghana Street Journal

Derek Boateng has slammed all foreign coaches who have handled the Black Stars so far, claiming they were clueless and had no blueprint to lead the team to success.

Essentially, Black Stars former coach Milovan Rajevac also came under fire from Derek Boateng for not going above and beyond to help the squad reach the World Cup quarterfinals in 2010.

The Black Stars became the third country from Africa to advance to the round of eight under Rajevac’s leadership.

The former Black Stars midfielder who was coached by Rajevac during those victories downplayed the coach’s efforts, saying that the calibre of the players he had at his command was what made him successful in the first place.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Boateng said, “All of the foreign coaches we had while with the Black Stars, including Milovan Rajevac, were clueless. To be honest, we had a great team… Milovan Rajevac and other foreign coaches did nothing out of the ordinary.”

Boateng continued, “We trained as if we were playing a match, and every player worked hard to get into the starting lineup. Looking at the squad, there was serious competition in the team, and those foreign coaches did nothing in my opinion.”

Here at Tru News Report, we do not know if this evaluation from Boateng encompasses the recruitment of Chris Hughton who was recently appointed to lead the Black Stars for glory.

Before his retirement, Derek Owusu Boateng was a defensive midfielder. Born in Ghana, Boateng played football professionally between 1999 and 2017 in Greece, Sweden, Israel, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, England, and the United States. He played in 47 full international matches for Ghana between 2001 and 2013, and he served his nation at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
