Alan Kyerematen’s bid to become the President of Ghana as an independent candidate just hit a snag after his supporters switched allegiance and moved to the camp of Kennedy Agyapong.

Based on the report at hand, it has come to our attention that the supporters of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, have expressed their unwavering endorsement for him in the upcoming primary on November 4th, particularly within the Oti region.

These supporters have emphasized that their primary criterion for selecting a candidate in the presidential primary is centred around job creation, a vision shared by both Alan Kyerematen and Kennedy Agyapong.

However, with the withdrawal of Mr Kyerematen from the race, they find themselves left with no alternative but to cast their votes in favour of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who currently serves as the Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee.

During a press conference held in Dambai on Thursday, September 28, 2023, Francis Songeh, spokesperson for the group, announced that their decision was based on Mr. Agyapong’s aspiration to generate employment opportunities for the youth of Ghana, a vision previously advocated by Mr. Kyerematen prior to his departure.

He said “Alan has plans to transform Ghana, he has planned to create jobs for the youth in the country to get jobs to get money in their pockets. However, for whatever reason, he has decided to quit the party. We find similar ideas in Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. Per what he is propagating, already he has some factories established in Ghana. He is somebody who can speak for the youth, cares for the youth and believes in the creation of jobs.”

He continued “We believe strongly that if we get Ken as the next president of Ghana, he will create jobs and the job creation will spread across the country and Oti region will be a beneficiary. Our youth will get jobs. If you look at the aspirants so far, there is none of them preaching this message. It is only Ken Ohene Agyapong who is preaching this message. He is the man to lead NPP come 2024 elections.”

In the meantime, Hayford Obeng, a member of the Ken Agyapong national campaign team, warmly received the members and expressed his delight regarding the recent developments. He emphasized the importance of uniting their efforts to diligently work towards realizing Ken Agyapong’s aspiration of becoming the President of the Republic.

“We team Ken Agyapong are happy over what has happened today. I welcome you all on behalf of Hon. Ken Agyapong. The exit of Alan leaves Ken Agyapong as the next viable person for the race. Your coming is divinely ordained and at the right time. Those of us already in the team will work harmoniously with you,” he assured.
