Alan Kyeremanten Advises NPP To Choose A Candidate Who Will Bring Them Victory

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should choose a presidential candidate who is widely supported to win the 2024 election.

The former minister of trade and industry argued that the party should hear the concerns of Ghanaians if it is not prepared to go into opposition. He was addressing party members in the Ashanti Region just before their Super Delegates Conference.

“Breaking the eight that we have been singing about, it is not the delegates that will break it… It is the six million people who vote for the NPP… So it is the entire Ghanaian voters who can break the eight for the party,” he said.

Mr. Kyerematen, who has received support from certain constituency chairmen, MPs, and party stalwarts, has described his bid to become the next leader of the NPP as a “national call.” The NPP presidential candidate claims he is the only one who can get the party in the Ashanti Region more than two million votes.

Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah, has been campaigning for Alan Kyeremanten to lead the party in the 2024 elections.

According to him, the former Minister of Trade and Industry is the kind of candidate the ruling party needs. He thinks the time has come for the group to get someone from its stronghold, Ashanti Region.

“Politics is about numbers. If you say your stronghold is a particular area and you cannot get the maximum votes from there, can you win? We all here know that, as for the NPP, since the return to multi-party rule, our stronghold is the Ashanti Region… So if the party wants someone who will become president, we need someone who has political capital in the Ashanti Region,” he stated.
