President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to reverse the country’s economic decline, which has been on a downward spiral since 2020.

Addressing the gathering at a banquet organised to celebrate elderly people on this year’s Founders’ Day at the Jubilee House, he promised that concrete steps would be taken to revive the nation’s once-thriving manufacturing sector. He stressed that the economy’s troubles weren’t preventing growth in other sectors.

Akufo-Addo said, “As President of the Republic, I have been preoccupied with making my leadership of Ghana a period above all that our nation lays the foundation from exporting raw materials and retailing of imported goods to a modern, value-adding industrialised one.

President Akufo-Addo claims that all economic indicators were pointing towards the achievement of this target prior to the setbacks created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

On August 4, Ghana marked Founders’ Day which is an important day for the celebration of the distinguished men and women who fought for the independence of the country
