Captain Smart has said on his Maakye Show on Onua TV that the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo failed to promote embattled COP Alex Mensah to the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP) because of his character.
Without mincing words, Captain Smart in his typical brash demeanour and controversial persona, said the bigwigs within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), including the president, refused to make COP Alex Mensah the new IGP because he’s too partisan and might compromise his job description during the latest edition of his popular show aired on Tuesday, September 6, 2023.
According to Smart, whose real name is Blessed Godsbrain Smart, the top police officer is affiliated with the NPP which is an open secret, but his fanaticism for the party and partisanship in discharging his official duties as a policeman might have gotten in the way if he was made the IGP.
Presently, COP George Mensah, and some top cops allegedly orchestrated a plot to kick out the current Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, and held a meeting with politician Bugri Naabu in that regard.
