Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has officially announced her second attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon.
In a recent interview, she shared her excitement and revealed plans to bring the event to Kumasi, a city she believes is ideal for such a monumental occasion.
“God willing, in December, I will be hosting another singathon, but this time I’m planning to do it in Kumasi,” Afua stated passionately.
“Myself and the team are conducting a feasibility study to determine which part of the city will be most suitable for this attempt. I want to bring this experience to the people in this region and also strengthen my role as an ambassador. This is about resilience and bringing the dream closer to home.”

Afua’s initial attempt earlier this year, while widely celebrated, did not meet Guinness World Records’ stringent standards. However, she remains undeterred.
“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World Record holder,” she affirmed.
The current record holder is Sunil Waghmare from India, who achieved an extraordinary 105-hour singing marathon in Nagpur in March 2012.
His achievement required an intense level of preparation and compliance with strict rules, including no repetition of songs within a four-hour cycle.
Afua aims to surpass Waghmare’s record by singing for over 117 hours.
