The path to success is often littered with setbacks, but for Afua Asantewaa, the first attempt at breaking a Guinness World Record in a singing marathon was just a stepping stone toward greater achievements.
Despite not clinching the record during her initial endeavour, she firmly believes that failure should never be a barrier to ambition. Now, she is gearing up for a second chance, setting her sights on hosting a spectacular Singathon in Kumasi this December.
In a recent interview on Akoma FM, Afua shared her aspirations for the upcoming event, revealing her determination to turn her vision into reality.
“I can tell you on your show that, God willing, I will be hosting another Singathon in December, but this time it’s going to be in Kumasi,” she expressed, her enthusiasm palpable.
The journalist and entrepreneur emphasized the importance of her choice to host the event in Kumasi, highlighting the city’s vibrant musical culture.
“My team and I are currently conducting a feasibility study to determine the best location within the city for the attempt,” she explained.
This careful planning is aimed at ensuring that the community can fully engage with the show while also enhancing her role as an ambassador for music in Ghana.
Asantewaa’s first attempt at a singing marathon not only raised her profile but also attracted significant public support, underscoring the interest in her mission to achieve world record status.
“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest to become a Guinness World Record holder,” she declared, a testament to her resilience and unwavering spirit.
Her desire to bring the Singathon to Kumasi is also about deepening connections and expanding her audience. As a rising musician and public figure, she understands the power of reaching out to different communities.
“Hosting the Singathon in Kumasi isn’t just about me. It’s about deepening my ambassadorial role and spreading the love of music to every corner of Ghana,” she articulated, showcasing her commitment to promoting music beyond her immediate reach.
With December fast approaching, Afua Asantewaa is laser-focused on making her second Singathon a memorable occasion.
Drawing on the lessons learned from her previous attempt, she is prepared to tackle the challenge head-on. Whether she achieves the record or not, her determination and passion for music continue to resonate with fans across Ghana and beyond.
