Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, despite falling short of achieving the record for the longest individual singing marathon according to Guinness Records, has revealed her plans for a ‘Thank You tour’ to express her appreciation towards her supporters.
On March 19, Afua Asantewaa took to her Twitter account to announce her upcoming tour, where she intends to personally thank her fans in Canada.
“I have a tall list of countries I am so grateful to for their immense support for me during my GWR record attempt. It’s time to say thank you, beginning with all Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians in Toronto, Canada,” she posted.
In February this year, Guinness World Records publicly announced the rejection of Afua Asantewaa’s Sing-A-Thon attempt, stating:
“Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans.”
“The evidence check had already commenced before Afua requested priority service, resulting in a refund of her payment earlier this month. Guinness World Records extended their best wishes to Afua for any future record attempts.”
Afua Asantewaa thought she had broken the world record by surpassing the previous 105-hour mark when she sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes.
This remarkable achievement was accomplished through a five-day event that commenced precisely at midnight on Sunday, December 24th and concluded on December 29th, 2023.
Her sing-a-thon event garnered immense support from thousands of music enthusiasts and well-wishers, including mainstream celebrities in Ghana, who gathered at Akwaaba Village to show solidarity and witness this historic moment.
