In what marks a new chapter in his political career, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, has pledged unwavering dedication to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as he assumes the role of Minority Leader in the 9th Parliament.

“The party will issue an official statement,” Afenyo-Markin noted during a brief interaction with journalists.

“But all I can say is that I thank the National Council for the trust reposed in me; the decision to confirm me to lead my side in Parliament.

“And I can promise them one thing: hard work. Hard work. Hard work. May God be my guide.”

This appointment comes after a notable tenure as Majority Leader, where Afenyo-Markin became known for his sharp intellect and strategic leadership.

His transition to the Minority bench signals significant changes within the party’s parliamentary structure and sets the stage for what could be a critical moment in Ghana’s legislative history.

For many within and outside the NPP, this move reflects a vote of confidence in Afenyo-Markin’s ability to steer the party through challenging times.
