Dr. Amoako Baah has raised concerns about the potential selection of Alexander Afenyo-Markin as the next Minority Leader.
In an interview on Starr Today with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, Dr Baah expressed doubts about Afenyo-Markin’s ability to lead effectively, citing the NPP’s recent parliamentary shortcomings.
“The role of Minority Leader requires fresh ideas and a proven ability to deliver results. Unfortunately, the leadership during our time as the majority failed to meet these expectations. Why would you now expect the same approach to yield different outcomes?” he questioned.
Dr. Baah highlighted the contradiction of rewarding leadership that oversaw the party’s demotion from Majority to Minority status.

“When you’re in the opposition and you work hard, you earn a promotion to Majority Leader. But going from Majority to Minority and still expecting to lead—how does that make sense?” he remarked.
Reflecting on the NPP’s parliamentary struggles, Dr. Baah argued that the challenges stemmed from flawed strategies and leadership choices.
“The results speak for themselves. If the approach didn’t work then, what would change now?” he asked.
The comments have added to the ongoing debate within the NPP about the direction of its parliamentary leadership, with many calling for a thorough reassessment to strengthen the party’s position in the House.
