AFCON: Namibia Hold Ghana To 0-0 Draw At Baba Yara Sports Stadium

Ghana concluded their preparations for this year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a disappointing draw against underdog Namibia at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Throughout the match, Namibia displayed remarkable composure, and largely frustrated Ghana leading a goalless draw. This result has caused panic throughout the nation and raised doubts about Ghana’s ability to secure the trophy when the tournament commences in Ivory Coast in a few days.

Namibia, a team with a low ranking heading into the AFCON, successfully frustrated the four-time African champions on their own turf, leaving the Black Stars struggling to create clear-cut scoring opportunities.

This outcome signifies that Ghana has only managed to win once in five games under the guidance of coach Chris Hughton. They have suffered defeats against Mexico, the USA, and Comoros, with their sole victory coming against Madagascar.

The goalless draw against Namibia is particularly worrisome for Ghana fans, as it marks the fifth time the team has failed to score under Hughton’s leadership. The first half of the match was abysmal, with the Black Stars showing slight improvement in the second half but ultimately failing to dominate the contest.

Despite some positive changes implemented by Hughton during the second half, Namibia managed to hold on for a draw, leaving Ghanaians feeling disappointed.

As the team continues to struggle with playing high-intensity football, concerns are mounting ahead of their opening Group B game against Cape Verde on January 14.
