AFCON 2023: Ayew Brothers On The ‘Chopping Board” as Ghanaians React To Black Stars’ Draw With Madagascar

Ghana could not break a resilient Madagascar in their AFCON 2023 qualifier and thus delayed their qualification to the biennial event to be staged in Ivory Coast.

This development predictably evoked unsuitable comments from Ghanaian fans, albeit there is a big chance of Ghana qualifying for the African showpiece if they beat Central African Republic on home soil in the last game of the group matches.

Ghana tops Group E with 9 points, followed by Angola and the Central African Republic with 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, coach Chris Hughton has expressed his resolve to enter the last Group E match of the qualifications with a winning attitude. In a post-game interview, the coach emphasized the value of playing at home and acknowledged the possible repercussions of failing to secure a victory.

“Our strategy for the next match is to win. We are playing at home. We know we have to win. We are aware of the consequences if we don’t win. We will be ready for the game in September. Our mindset is to win this game [against Madagascar],” stated Hughton.
