Ademola Lookman Wins 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year

Ademola Lookman etched his name into African football history on a dazzling night in Marrakech, Morocco, as he claimed the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

The Atalanta and Nigeria forward stood tall among the continent’s elite, capping off a year defined by brilliance and consistency.

In doing so, Lookman reignited a legacy for Nigerian football, following in the footsteps of Victor Osimhen, last year’s winner.

Their back-to-back victories mark the first time since the golden era of Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba in the 1990s that Nigeria has dominated this prestigious honour two years in a row.

Not to be outshoned, Zambia’s Barbra Banda added her own chapter to the evening’s narrative.

The dynamic forward, who set the U.S. National Women’s Soccer League alight by steering Orlando Pride to glory, was crowned CAF Women’s Player of the Year.

Banda didn’t stop there—her historic feats at the Paris Olympics, where she became the only player ever to score three hat-tricks in a single tournament, solidified her status as a trailblazer in women’s football.

On a night of celebration and pride, Africa’s brightest stars reminded the world why they are a force to be reckoned with in the beautiful game.
