Ghanaian actor and outspoken supporter of the NPP, Prince David Osei has been at the center of a social media storm after making a comment targeting former President John Dramani Mahama.

Reacting to the announcement of Mahama’s victory in the 2024 Presidential elections, Prince David Osei tweeted, “Even drunkard you voted for kwasia boy!! Learn sense wai Gyimi.”

The post quickly went viral, sparking outrage among Ghanaians who labelled the remark as not only disrespectful but also a disappointing outburst from a public figure.

Critics have condemned the actor for crossing a line, arguing that his choice of words undermines the civility expected in political discourse.

In a country that prides itself on spirited yet respectful political engagement, such inflammatory language has been seen as a blow to decorum, further fueling division in an already tense political atmosphere.

Social media users have disapproved, labelling the actor’s comment as “insensitive” and “unpatriotic.” A Twitter user responded: “We can disagree politically, but referring to a President as a drunkard is completely out of line. Public figures should do better.”
