The presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been a subject of mixed reviews, with some celebrating his achievements while others have been vocal about their dissatisfaction.
Among those speaking out is Nana Boadi Amponim Obo-Dade III, the Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, who has openly criticized the former president’s tenure.
In an interview on GHOne, Nana Boadi minced no words about his views. “It was quite clear, but people just didn’t realize it.

“Some of us are happy that his reign is over. A lot of the chiefs are happy,” he declared during a recent gathering.
His sentiments reflect frustrations that, according to him, were shared by many in traditional leadership.
Providing a glimpse into the strained relationship between the presidency and the chieftaincy institution, Nana Boadi recalled an anecdote shared by a fellow chief.
“A good friend of mine who is also a chief told me once, ‘Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up and greet him.’”
This, he implied, exemplified a lack of respect or understanding of the customs and nuances of traditional leadership.
For Nana Boadi, the core of his criticism stems from what he sees as missed opportunities during Akufo-Addo’s presidency.
“It is not a good legacy. He could have done more. He had so much revenue, so much he could have done for this country,” he lamented.

His remarks reflect a broader disappointment from those who had high hopes for the president’s ability to transform Ghana’s fortunes.
While some may find his critique harsh, Nana Boadi frames it as a prayer for Ghana’s future leadership. “We pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana,” he concluded emphatically.
