Six nations have expressed interest in participating in the selection process to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, according to CAF.

When the administration’s deadline passed, CAF received four bids from six nations. See below for the countries involved, arranged alphabetically.

1.    Algeria

2.    Botswana

3.    Egypt

4.    Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (Joint Bid)

Next steps and tentative deadlines:

–       23 May 2023: Deadline for Member Associations to submit their final bid, including all bidding and hosting documents (hosting agreement, host cities agreement, government guarantees, etc.), which should be duly signed

–       1 June-15 July 2023: Inspection visits

–       TBC: CAF Executive Committee decision

The 2023 AFCON will b be hosted by Cote D’Ivoire followed by the next edition which will be staged in Guinea.

However, The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe confirmed last month that Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Zambia and a joint Benin-Nigeria bid are in the running to replace Guinea as hosts of the 2025 event.

The West African nation was stripped of the 24-team event in October because of a lack of suitably advancing infrastructure and facilities.

Motsepe said the successful replacement would offer the best “transport, logistics, hotels and beautiful stadiums.”
