In a new development to Elrad Amoako’s case, the 16-year-old son of Salifu Amoako has now been charged with manslaughter following a fatal accident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
The tragic event has brought to light the dangers of reckless driving and the devastating consequences that can follow. Here are the key points surrounding the case:
1. Accused and Charges: Elrad Amoako has been charged with manslaughter following the fatal accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh Baah, who have since been buried. According to the prosecution, Elrad was attempting to showcase the speed of a Jaguar F-Pace Sport while leading a convoy of three SUVs.

2. The Convoy: Elrad, driving his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace Sport, led a convoy of three SUVs. He drove the car to A&C Mall with a friend, where they met additional friends waiting in two other SUVs. Together, they formed a convoy and drove through the East Legon area.
3. Court Appearance: On November 1, 2024, Elrad appeared before the Family and Juvenile Court in Accra. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court has since remanded him to a correctional facility and ordered him to surrender his American and Ghanaian passports. He is scheduled to reappear in court on November 7, 2024.
4. The Event Before the Accident: On October 12, 2024, the accused’s family held a birthday party for Elyon Amoako at an event centre in East Legon. During the event, Elrad reportedly asked Linda Bonsu Bempah, Elyon’s assistant, for the keys to his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace Sport. Linda, who had been given the keys to hold on to during the party, handed them over to Elrad.
5. The Accident: According to Assistant State Attorney Ebenezer Yaw Acquah, the 16-year-old rammed into the rear of an Acura while driving the Jaguar.

The collision was violent and destructive, propelling both vehicles across the street and into the wall of a house opposite the junction, destroying an ECG pole. Both vehicles caught fire immediately. While Elrad and his passenger managed to escape, the occupants of the Acura were trapped inside. Despite bystanders’ efforts to douse the flames with fire extinguishers, they could not suppress the blaze.
