Ghana will kick off their journey towards the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Morocco by facing Sudan, Angola, and Niger.
The draw for the qualifiers, which took place today in Johannesburg, South Africa, placed Ghana in Group F.
Of particular note is the reunion with former coach Kwesi Appiah, who is now leading the Sudanese national team.
The top two teams from each group will secure a spot in the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana is eyeing their 11th consecutive AFCON finals appearance.
The qualifiers are set to begin in September this year, determining the first 24 nations out of the 48 that will compete in Africa’s premier football event.
The Confederation of African Football has announced that the next edition will start on December 21, 2025, and will conclude on January 18, 2026.

In the previous edition of the tournament, Ghana suffered a heartbreaking defeat in AFCON 2023 after squandering a two-goal lead against Mozambique in stoppage time.
With only a few minutes left on the clock, Andre Ayew’s handball in the box led to a penalty for Mozambique, which Geny Catamo converted in the 91st minute.
Just three minutes later, Reinildo redeemed himself by scoring from a corner kick, sealing Ghana’s fate in a dramatic turn of events.
Despite their efforts, Ghana exits the tournament with two points from three games and a negative goal difference, pending the results of other third-placed teams.
The late equalizer came as a result of a costly mistake by Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who mishandled a corner kick that led to Mozambique’s goal.
While Ghana’s defence could have been better, Ofori’s error ultimately proved to be decisive.
