Kuami Eugene, one of Ghana’s most celebrated young artists, has shed light on the pivotal moment he parted ways with Lynx Entertainment, the record label that played a crucial role in shaping his career.
In an emotional revelation during an interview on Joy News, Eugene shared the heartfelt advice he received from Richie Mensah, his boss and mentor, before stepping into the uncharted territory of independence.
“Richie told me you are a big boy now to handle your affairs,” Eugene recalled. “He told me point blank that you are one person who cannot fail when you leave Lynx. He told me to actually prepare before the time, and the time came.”
This transition marked a significant chapter in Eugene’s career as he ventured beyond the nurturing environment of Lynx Entertainment, the label that signed him after he emerged as a finalist in MTN Hitmaker.
Under Richie’s guidance, Eugene blossomed into a household name with multiple hit singles, including Angela, Wish Me Well, and Confusion.

Richie Mensah’s confidence in Eugene underscores a legacy of trust and mentorship. “Richie always had a way of inspiring us to believe in ourselves,” Eugene continued, reflecting on the unique bond he shared with the music executive.
“He prepared me not just as an artist but as someone who could face the world beyond the studio.”
Leaving Lynx was no small decision. Fans and industry insiders had speculated for months about the departure, which some feared might derail the artist’s career.
But Richie’s words provided the necessary assurance. For Eugene, the move symbolized growth—a chance to build on his success while forging his path in the music industry.
The departure also speaks volumes about Lynx Entertainment’s culture, which has consistently prioritized artist development.
Over the years, Lynx has nurtured several artists, including KiDi, who has also achieved remarkable success. The label’s commitment to preparing its talents for life beyond Lynx is evident in Eugene’s testimony.
