Ghanaian musician Mzbel has called on residents of Kasoa to make their voices heard by voting for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December elections.
At a rally organized by the party, Mzbel, known for her bold statements and activism, spoke passionately about the need for change in the country, particularly in her home community of Kasoa.
“Thank you for coming out in your numbers from the starting point to the ending point,” Mzbel began, acknowledging the large turnout at the rally. “This shows that we are tired and fed up, we need change, and change is coming.”
Her words were met with resounding cheers and applause, a clear indication of the support for her call to action. Mzbel’s speech focused on the struggles of the people of Kasoa, a rapidly growing town that, despite its bustling activity, has been plagued by limited job opportunities and economic challenges.
Mzbel also took the opportunity to challenge the narrative often painted by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has claimed that Kasoa residents are lazy.
“Also, this shows the people of Kasoa are not lazy like how the NPP is claiming. Supposed there are jobs in Kasoa, I am sure none of you here would go to Accra for work, so vote for change,” she added, pointing out that the lack of local employment opportunities has forced many to leave their homes in search of work in the capital, Accra.
Furthermore, Ghanaian actor and supporter of the NDC, Big Akwes, also addressed the rally, urging the crowd to remain peaceful and united. “There is no violence in Kasoa as some people are saying. We are united so I am asking all of you to go vote for the NDC on December 7 and vote for change,” he said, reinforcing the message of peaceful change that Mzbel had emphasized earlier.
