Ghanaian music sensation Kuami Eugene has spoken candidly about the need for Ghanaians to approach elections with caution, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding personal safety amidst political tensions.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, the award-winning artist highlighted the intense atmosphere surrounding the upcoming elections, urging citizens to focus on making informed choices while prioritizing their well-being.

Reflecting on the way elections are conducted in Ghana, Kuami Eugene noted that the process often loses its lighter, community-oriented aspects, becoming overly intense.

He pointed out that voting is essentially about selecting someone to take up a job and emphasized that this should not come at the cost of people’s lives or peace of mind.

“I figured that the way we take elections in Ghana, to be precise, sometimes we take the fun aspect out. At the end of the day, we’re going to vote to help someone get a job,” he stated.

While acknowledging the importance of electing deserving leaders, the “Angela” hitmaker expressed concern about the heightened tension created by the political parties’ rhetoric.

He described the situation as “awkward,” underscoring the need for citizens to remain calm and reflective. “Besides the fact that we have to vote for someone who deserves the position, we also have to think about our lives and our safety first,” he said, urging voters to keep the bigger picture in mind.

Kuami Eugene also shared how the creative arts industry can play a vital role in promoting peace during such intense periods.

As an artist, he sees music as a powerful tool to inspire and remind people of the value of life.

“The little we can do as people from the creative arts is to do a song that will remind everybody that your life is important, so you don’t need to die for someone to be elected,” he explained, underscoring his commitment to using his platform to advocate for calm and positivity.
