During an emotional conversation on the Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, Yaa Yeboah opened up about a deeply hurtful experience from her days at Achimota Preparatory School that left a lasting mark on her self-worth.

Recalling the moment, Yaa shared how, after presenting a poem at another school event, her Twi teacher approached her and delivered a harsh blow to her confidence.

“You shouldn’t try to be in the spotlight,” the teacher had said. “You’re not beautiful enough. You’ll never make it as a TV presenter. You’re too dark to be on TV.”

The sting of that comment, coupled with relentless bullying from classmates, left Yaa feeling deeply insecure throughout her school years.

She revealed, “I never felt beautiful. Fighting became my defence mechanism because that’s the only way I knew how to handle things. If anyone messed with me, I would retaliate.”

Despite these early struggles, Yaa Yeboah has defied the negativity and proven her critics wrong. Today, she is a well-known TV and radio presenter, as well as a highly sought-after MC.

Her story is a powerful reminder of resilience, illustrating how inner strength and determination can help someone rise above the limitations others try to impose.

Yaa’s success serves as a beacon of hope, showing that beauty, talent, and self-worth extend far beyond societal judgments or harmful stereotypes.
