Shatta Wale has made headlines once again, this time for kneeling and pleading for forgiveness from former president John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The heartfelt moment, captured in a video at Mahama’s residence, has sparked a wave of reactions across social media.
Shatta Wale, known for his outspokenness and often controversial remarks, had previously criticized Mahama’s leadership during his presidency.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the artist has expressed regret over his past criticisms. The change in stance comes after Wale, like many Ghanaians, observed the performance of Nana Akufo-Addo’s second term in office under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which led him to reconsider his opinions about Mahama’s tenure.
In the video, Shatta Wale is seen on his knees, asking Mahama for forgiveness. He acknowledged that his previous comments had caused several prominent figures within the NDC to distance themselves from him.
Wale also reminded Mahama of a significant moment in his career, pointing out how his hit song “Mahama Paper” helped him purchase his first home. This personal connection between the two was a key theme in Wale’s plea for reconciliation.
Mahama, in a display of warmth and magnanimity, encouraged Wale to rise, assuring him that all was forgiven.
“I always have a place in my heart for forgiveness,” Mahama said with a smile. He added that he welcomed diverse opinions, including those that might be critical of his leadership, and described Shatta Wale as his son, reaffirming his affection for the artist despite their past differences.

In a further gesture of goodwill, Mahama assured Shatta Wale that he and other NDC leaders would be more accessible to him in the future, emphasizing the importance of keeping communication lines open between the political sphere and influential public figures like Wale.
The video has since gone viral, with many Ghanaians applauding both Shatta Wale’s humility in seeking forgiveness and Mahama’s graciousness in offering it.
