TV and radio personality Abena Moet has advised dancehall artist Shatta Wale to establish his own radio stations if he wants to have his music broadcasted in a bold statement that has sparked conversations across the airwaves.
This surprising suggestion emerged during a lively discussion with Ola Michael on Neat FM, ignited by the playing of Stonebwoy’s hit track, “Jejereje.”
The conversation took a turn when a fan of Shatta Wale sent in a message, requesting that Ola play one of Wale’s tracks.
While Ola was open to the idea, he candidly admitted his uncertainty about which of Wale’s songs was currently making waves.
Before he could delve deeper, Abena Moet interjected with a pointed reminder: “Shatta Wale’s music has been banned from all Despite Media platforms.”
Moet emphasized the underlying reasons for this ban, stating that Wale cannot hurl insults at the CEO of Despite Media, Osei Kwame Despite, and expect his songs to be played on their network.
“If he wants his music to reach his fans, then he needs to create his own platforms,” she asserted, underscoring her firm stance against playing any of Wale’s songs during the broadcast.
Despite Ola Michael’s earlier claims of having forgiven Shatta Wale for past comments directed at him and the Despite Media Group, Abena Moet remained resolute in her position.
“It’s not about personal feelings; it’s about the respect we owe each other in this industry. Shatta needs to recognize that actions have consequences,” she declared.
A few months ago, Neat FM announced that Shatta Wale’s derogatory remarks towards Osei Kwame Despite and Fadda Dickson were unacceptable and led to the imposition of a ban.
Abena Moet supported this view, stating that Wale does not contribute to their salaries, allowing them the discretion to decide whether to engage in discussions about him.
This decision followed Wale’s severe insults directed at Dr. Osei Kwame, the CEO of Despite Media, and Fadda Dickson, the Managing Director of the company.
His outburst was triggered by Akwasi Aboagye of Peace FM, who ridiculed him regarding his assertion that he was paid £90,000 to perform at this year’s Ghana Music Awards UK.
Rather than directing his ire at Akwasi Aboagye, Wale chose to target Despite Media, which led to the ban from his employees, who were displeased with his treatment of their leader.
