The news of Tyrone Iras Marhguy’s outstanding performance in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has become the talk of the Ghanaian internet landscape.
The attention surrounding this young boy, fueled by the Achimota controversy and subsequent legal battle, has once again captured the interest of Ghanaians. In light of these events, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the former Deputy Information Minister during the John Dramani Mahama administration, has criticized the government for its efforts to hinder Tyrone’s progress.
Taking to Twitter, Mr. Kwakye expressed his disappointment, attributing the government’s actions to elitist arrogance and regressive conservatism. He highlighted how the Attorney-General went as far as opposing this exceptionally talented boy’s admission to Achimota in court.
Because of elitist arrogance and backward conservatism,a whole Attorney-General fought this extraordinarily brilliant boy in court to prevent him from gaining admission to Achimota. Shame on him and all who thought like him.
Previously, Franklin Cudjoe, the boss of the IMANI Africa , who was probably the first person to share this information on the internet, also praised the young boy, saying:
One my favourite persons of the year. In spite of all the negative and needless press generated by the silly rudderless actions of ‘elite’ administrators in the vaunted walls of Achimota, the young man kept focus. He could have furthered Achimota’s chances in the Math& Science quiz, but he was not allowed. He really could have scored the same results in any mid-tiered school. Achimota should be thankful.
