Media personality, Afia Pokuaa alias Vim Lady has criticized gospel musician Sonnie Badu for publicly calling out Kwaku Oteng of the Angel Group of Companies.
She described the Ghanaian musician as immature and ignorant, claiming that he had limited knowledge about how corporate bodies work when it comes to sponsoring programmes. Vim Lady suggested that Sonnie Badu could have effectively promoted his brand and highlighted the impact his program would have on the sponsored brand. This report is currently trending as far as entertainment in Ghana is concerned.
According to Vim Lady, presenting numbers and other relevant data can be beneficial when seeking sponsorship. However, some brands may choose not to associate with others due to conflicting objectives. In conclusion, Vim Lady stated that Sonnie Badu is misguided and would benefit from coaching.
This incident occurred after Sonnie Badu accused Dr. Kwaku Oteng of reneging on his promise to sponsor his program.
Ask some of us, myself, Abeiku Santana, and Von Bakustein who have been in the media for over 20 years Sponships are not given on silver platter. You PITCH your idea to the big brands based on data that shows what value they will get(brand exposure, awareness, sales) Companies like MTN, Vodafone, or even Adonko will not hand you money just like that. Are they Father Christmas companies? Even your brand value will determine whether another brand would want to associate with you.
This guy paaa! This is an issue you don’t even speak about publicly. You build on the relationship for future sponsorship opportunities. This matter that you have put on blast, letting the ‘cat out of the bag’ which company will feel comfortable associating with you and sponsor you in the future? Sometimes we for gbordgidi small on some information Von, Sony Badu needs your coaching 🤦🏿♀️🇬🇭
