In an interview, Dabo shared his perspective, pointing out how Dr. Likee’s rise to stardom on platforms like YouTube and Instagram has redefined what it means to be a star in today’s world.
“He rose to fame through YouTube and other digital platforms, so right now he is a star,” Dabo explained. “Social media has changed the game, and gaining huge attention online can make one just as popular, if not more, than those who rely solely on traditional media.”
This insight underscores a critical shift in the entertainment landscape. The internet has given rise to a new wave of influencers, and Dr. Likee is at the forefront of this movement.
His ability to garner a massive following on digital platforms has cemented his status as a prominent figure, sparking discussions about the evolving nature of stardom in the Kumawood film industry.
Dabo further elaborated on the growing divide between traditional stars and digital influencers.
“Even if a traditional movie star starts creating short content and compares it to Dr. Likee’s, you’ll see that Likee is bigger,” he said, illustrating how digital platforms have levelled the playing field.
