Yaa Pono has stepped up during this diss song season to release a new track titled Statement where he aims at Sarkodie with some powerful lyrics.
In the song, Pono challenges Sarkodie’s rap dominance and questions his credibility. Additionally, he clarifies that Sarkodie is not originally from Tema and moved there from Achimota to gain knowledge from artists like himself.
Amongst some of the things he said are as follows:
“We started rapping from 1997 in Tema. Your favourite rapper Sarkodie is from Achimota, and he came to Tema to learn the genre.”
“If you talk rap, it’s me. You cannot take me out, and I control the game.”
Yaa Pono emphasizes the importance of Sarkodie showing respect to the rap legends who laid the foundation for his success in the industry.
“Give all the respect to who you believe… If Reggie and Obrafour didn’t come, we won’t be surviving [in this business],” he states.
The song has predictably sparked wild excitement on social media as depicted in the comment captured in the screenshot below:
