Regrettably, Yaa Pono has shared the heartbreaking news with his fans that he lost his father on Christmas Day.
In his announcement, as sighted by Tru News Report, the Tema-based rapper, who is held in some breath as one of the finest lyricists of our time, revealed his father’s name as Mr. Adu Antwi and humbly requested God’s guidance as his father embarked on his final journey. The sad news has added a new discourse as far as entertainment in Ghana.
Yaa Pono has always held a deep affection for his father and has previously acknowledged the pivotal role his father played in shaping his success.
During an appearance on the Y’adwumanie show on Angel FM in 2022, the artiste expressed his admiration for his father’s unwavering dedication as a parent, recounting how his father tirelessly worked to provide for their family.
“After my mother died, my father did an excellent job of providing me with a good and better life” he eulogised his father, adding “I never understood my father until I became an adult”.
According to him, his father has been instrumental in his rise to fame, without whom he could not have achieved the feat.
“My father is everything to me, and he has bestowed everything he has on me. He picked me up and drove me to where I am now, for which I am grateful.”
He has thus released the song “Yegya” from the “Sovran” album to express gratitude to his father for all that he has done for him because “if I were my dad, I wouldn’t have survived.”.
