Amidst the summons from Manhyia Palace, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has broken his silence on his health condition.

Chairman Wontumi was visibly active in the Bantama Constituency during the NPP Parliamentary Primaries as he was seen moving around and granting interviews.

When questioned by the press about his well-being, he confidently stated, “I am okay.”

For over a week, Chairman Wontumi has been in the news due to comments he is alleged to have made about the Asantehene.

Following this, he was summoned to the Manhyia Palace to meet the Kumasi Traditional Council, but he failed to show up.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, led a delegation to appeal for an extension, citing Chairman Wontumi’s illness.

Despite the appeal, the traditional leader denied their request, insisting that no medical report had been provided to validate the chairman’s claim of being unwell.
