American rapper Wiz Khalifa has been charged with illegal drug possession after allegedly using marijuana during his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinesti, Romania.

According to the French news agency Agence France Presse (AFP), police found cannabis in his possession, which is considered a risk drug under Romanian law. If convicted, the See You Again hitmaker could potentially face up to 10 years in prison.

The Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors organization DIICOT stated that Wiz was smoking the drug onstage during his performance, possessing more than 18 grams of cannabis and consuming another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette. He was arrested for questioning but was later released.

“During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (onstage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” DIICOT said in its statement.

In a viral clip, Wiz can be seen being escorted out of the festival by Romanian police officers.

He was charged but released soon after.

Following his release, Wiz Khalifa shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) about his arrest.
