The relevance of music videos in today’s music industry has become a heated topic, following contrasting views shared on Hitz FM by entertainment pundit BullGod and media personality MC Portfolio.
The debate was sparked when BullGod argued that traditional music videos have lost their significance in an era dominated by short-form content.
According to him, the rise of platforms like TikTok and Instagram has shifted how audiences engage with music, making the extensive budgets allocated to music videos an unnecessary expense.

Instead, he encouraged artists to focus on creating brief, engaging clips that capture the essence of their songs and have the potential to go viral.
However, MC Portfolio strongly disagreed with this perspective during his appearance on the same platform. He stressed the importance of music videos in building an artist’s brand and solidifying their professionalism within the industry.
“Not having a music video is not professional work. It doesn’t really give you that kind of reverence that we have to put on your brands,” he said, emphasizing that music videos remain a key element in positioning artists for global recognition.
This clash of opinions highlights a deeper conversation about the evolving dynamics of music promotion.
While short-form content has undoubtedly revolutionized how music reaches fans, traditional music videos continue to be a symbol of artistry and credibility for many.
