In a recent interview on Onua Showtime, Ghanaian reggae and dancehall star Stonebwoy discussed the possibility of collaborating with Screwfaze on a remix of his hit song “Jejereje.”
Though fans have voiced their interest in hearing the two artists on a remix together, Stonebwoy offered a candid perspective on why the collaboration may not be the best strategic move for his brand.
While acknowledging the idea’s creative appeal, he explained that it would lack commercial viability and would be more of a nostalgic treat than a financial advantage.

“I have heard people talking about the fact that I should have a remix of the ‘Jejereje’ song with Screwfaze. It’s a good idea, but adding him to the song would not add any commercial to the song. It would only be for its niceness,” Stonebwoy explained.
His thoughtful approach highlights the balancing act many artists face between honouring fan requests and making strategic career decisions.
Screwfaze, known for his classic “Gbalagazaa,” has a loyal fanbase, and Stonebwoy acknowledged that his involvement in a remix would add a unique layer to the track.
However, he suggested that if Screwfaze were inspired by the song, he could create his own version on the same beat without a formal invitation.
“If the song sparked the energy of a legend, the only thing he could have done was to do a version of the beat without being asked to. I don’t have to reach out to him. We have plans and we can’t go against them,” he added.
For Stonebwoy, every collaboration is a calculated decision that aligns with his broader artistic and business vision. In an industry that is increasingly competitive, especially within the Afrobeats and dancehall scenes, even the smallest decisions can have a big impact.
As an artist known for his versatility and international appeal, he has set high standards for his collaborations.
While some fans may be disappointed by his reluctance to reach out to Screwfaze, his response offers insight into the careful planning behind each of his moves.
Stonebwoy’s comments also point to the ever-evolving nature of the music industry. Artists today are often pressured to respond quickly to fan requests, but maintaining a successful career often means knowing when to say “no.”
