Why Kennedy Agyapong Should Have Been Arrested After NPP Elections – Former NPP Executive Explains

, Ghana Street Journal

Richard Agyemang, a former Suame Youth Organizer and Ashanti Regional Communication Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed his disappointment in the state security apparatus for their failure to arrest Kennedy Agyapong over his recent remarks directed at the President and Vice President.

Agyemang is shocked by the indifferent attitude of the National Security in response to videos of the Assin Central MP and NPP super delegate conference aspirant making threats of a showdown with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, despite their lack of involvement in the issues being raised.

He made his displeasure known on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM.

“Let’s be frank with ourselves, nobody can threaten the first and second gentlemen of the land and will go free like that. It does not happen anywhere. I expected the National Security apparatus to act, this is not normal. The President and the Vice have gone beyond the interest of just one party, he is for the nation and nobody can just threaten them like that”

“What Kennedy did was not acceptable and I am hoping the party’s NEC will bring his actions to book”, he anticipated

The former NPP executive noted that the president’s name and integrity should not have been brought into Kennedy Agyapong’s conversation at all.

“What did the President and the Vice do to warrant such utterances by Ken, directed at them? Come on, was the president even in the contest at all for all this needless attention”

“I am really disappointed in the National Security, Ken should not be a free man, he should be answering some questions now and we should put internal politics aside. This was not appropriate” Agyeman stressed.

Recall that Kennedy Agyapong was sighted in a video threatening to give Nana Akufo Addo and Dr Mahamuddu Bawumia a showdown for daring to sabotage him as far as the internal flagbearer elections in the NPP are concerned.

The visibly irate Agyapong issued a threat to challenge President Akufo-Addo at any given opportunity. He expressed that his representative, who was tasked with safeguarding his interests by closely monitoring the proceedings, was forcefully evicted and confined to a room.

In light of this supposed act of betrayal, he declared his readiness to take on both Nana Akufo-Addo and his vice president. He swore to God that he would give them a showdown so they better prepare.

“President Akufo-Addo, I will give you showdown… Vice President Bawumia, I will give you showdown,” he said in Twi, while speaking on top of his voice in a telephone call at a voting centre in the Central Region.
