Ghanaian musician and actress Mzbel has voiced her disappointment with Felix Odartey Lamptey, the outgoing NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Weija-Gbawe, following his defeat in the December 7 elections.
In a heated Facebook post on December 9, she questioned Lamptey’s decisions during the crucial moments of the collation process, accusing him of mishandling the situation.
“I think Weija-Gbawe we’ve been played by our own PC,” Mzbel wrote. “If not, why did he leave the collation centre knowing very well that his opponent is trying everything possible to rig the election?”
Mzbel’s frustration stems from Lamptey’s alleged absence from the collation centre while votes were still being counted.

She questioned why he left prematurely, leaving his supporters in a state of uncertainty. “Mr Felix Odartey Lamptey, why did you leave the collation centre when no one has been declared the winner?
“Why did you parade us through the constituency for hours with the impression that you have won?!” she added.
Her comments came after Jerry Ahmed Shaib of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was declared the Member of Parliament-elect for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency. Shaib won with 32,608 votes, edging out Lamptey, who secured 30,460 votes.
Mzbel, a vocal supporter of the NDC, shared a video of Lamptey celebrating with supporters during a convoy through the constituency, an act she claims gave a false impression that victory was assured.
She lamented the misplaced confidence and criticized the lack of vigilance at the collation centre, which she believes contributed to the NDC’s loss in the constituency.
