In a recent update regarding the marriage of Gborbu Wulomo to a 12-year-old girl, a representative of the influential Ga priest stated that they are prepared to address the authorities due to their lack of understanding of Ga state traditions.
During a press briefing today, Rev. D.N. Gyasi Ankra, the Administrator of the Office of Gborbu Wulomo, expressed confusion over the police intervention in ‘rescuing’ the girl and her mother, saying the two are under their protection.
The elderly man who looked very livid emphasized that according to tradition, the deity could pose a threat to the girl if the purification process is disrupted, and therefore they cannot be held responsible for any consequences.
Additionally, they mentioned resorting to traditional methods to fend off the police if the situation persists.
Tru News Report earlier said the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the matter.
This viral report has garnered significant interest both locally and internationally, leading to outrage among some Ghanaians online.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that they have successfully located the 12-year-old girl who was reportedly married to the 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo in Nungua, Accra.
Currently, the girl and her mother are under the protection of the police.
“The Ghana Police Service is working with the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection and the Department of Social Welfare to provide her with the necessary support while the matter is being investigated,” a statement issued by the Police said.
