The Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste category at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is once again up for grabs, but one name has been noticeably absent for years—Shatta Wale.
Since his infamous altercation with Stonebwoy at the 2019 awards, which led to his ban, the category has felt less competitive without his heated rivalry with Stonebwoy.
Despite this, the lineup still boasts some of Ghana’s finest reggae/dancehall acts. Let’s check out the contenders:

- Jupitar – A dominant force in Ghana’s dancehall space, Jupitar’s lyrical prowess and high-energy delivery have kept him in the game for years. His consistency makes him a strong contender.
- Samini – The evergreen legend! Samini’s legacy in the industry is unmatched, and despite new faces emerging, he remains a major influence in the reggae/dancehall scene.
- Ras Kuuku – A true reggae head, Ras Kuuku has consistently delivered conscious music with strong messages. He continues to be a staple name in this category.
- Epixode – One of the most innovative performers in the genre, Epixode blends reggae and dancehall with electrifying stagecraft, making him a formidable contender.
- Stonebwoy – The most decorated reggae/dancehall artiste in Ghana, Stonebwoy has set the bar high with international recognition and groundbreaking music. Without Shatta Wale in the mix, he has largely dominated the category.
- Rocky Dawuni – A Grammy-nominated reggae icon, Rocky Dawuni has taken Ghanaian reggae to global heights. His unique sound and international reach make him a strong force in this lineup.

Without Shatta Wale’s participation, the once fiery competition has mellowed down, leaving room for other acts to shine. Who do you think will win this year?
