American rapper who hails from Florida, Julio Foolio has been gunned down in Tampa on Sunday, shortly following his 26th birthday celebration.
His attorney, Lewis Fusco, revealed that Foolio, born Charles Jones, was staying at a Holiday Inn in Tampa after being forced to leave an Airbnb where he was previously partying.
Fusco stated that the rapper was unexpectedly attacked in what appeared to be an ambush.
Tampa authorities have officially verified the fatality of an individual in the shooting incident, while three other individuals sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Before his demise, Jones had posted a story on Instagram, showcasing his joyful celebration of his 26th birthday alongside friends and admirers at an Airbnb pool party.
The event had gained significant publicity on various social media platforms, but reportedly escalated into disorderliness, prompting law enforcement to intervene and ultimately resulting in Jones’ departure, as stated by Fusco.
“Mr. Jones had been in Tampa to celebrate his birthday over the weekend,” Fusco said.
“Law enforcement reports indicate that he initially stayed at an Airbnb but was asked to leave due to exceeding occupancy limits.
“He subsequently relocated to the Holiday Inn, where he was involved in an incident in the hotel parking lot and reportedly ambushed.”
The parking lot shooting incident involved Jones and three other individuals who were inside their vehicles at the time.
Unidentified attackers fired shots, prompting the police to investigate the case. As of Sunday afternoon, no suspects have been apprehended, and authorities are currently examining the hotel’s surveillance footage for further leads.
Jones was a known member of the Jacksonville gang KTA, which has been in a longstanding feud with rival gangs, First Coast News reports.
Jones’ cousin and three teenagers were killed in a 2018 gang-related shooting during a birthday party for Jones’ brother, according to authorities.
The rapper had survived a previous attempt on his life back in 2021, when he was grazed by a bullet while at his recording studio in Jacksonville, with the rapper later taunting his shooters on Instagram.
“Y’all miss a whole 100 shots literally,” Jones said of the shooting.
