American rapper Chino XL, renowned for his hit ‘Beastin’ and his debut album ‘Here to Save You All’ released in the 1990s, has tragically passed away at the age of 50.

The Bronx native’s death was confirmed by his family through a statement posted on his Instagram account.

Born Derek Emmanuel Barbosa, Chino XL was recognized not only for his music but also for his rivalry with the late Tupac Shakur, which was marked by a series of diss tracks during the 1990s.

While the cause of his death has not been disclosed, his family shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Sunday, July 28, and requested privacy during this difficult time. A memorial service will be announced in the near future.

In a joint statement, his daughters reflect: “Our father had many titles — King of Punchlines, Puerto Rican Superhero — but the most important one was Girl Dad.

And what he gave us most in that role was his strength, straightforwardness, and ability to be super realistic. The main thing we are feeling now is that our Dad is at peace, and so we are at peace.”

Chino XL is survived by his four children: Chynna, Bella, Lyric, and Kiyana; his stepson Shawn; grandchildren Emmy, Emery, Chris, Luis, and Dyani; his mother, Carole; and his former long-term partner, Stephanie.
