Barrister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the former Minister for Women Affairs, has made a significant return to Nollywood, announcing the release of her new film, Hatred.
This marks her official re-entry into the industry after a break to focus on her political career.
Her political tenure came to an end in October 2024, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dismissed her, alongside four other ministers.
She was succeeded by Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the former Minister of State for Police Affairs. Despite this shift, Kennedy-Ohanenye’s passion for filmmaking remained undiminished, and she is now back in action as a producer.

On February 4, 2025, she shared a teaser of her new film on both her X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook pages. With a simple but enthusiastic post – “Grab your popcorn” – Kennedy-Ohanenye invited her followers to experience her latest work.
The 40-minute film, featuring an ensemble cast including Sorochi Onyekwere, Onyi Maduegbunam, Ifunanya Nwobi, and Kachi Obimma, is already creating a buzz.
While her new film is still making waves, Kennedy-Ohanenye’s history in the industry is well-established.
She has previously produced several well-known films, such as Mama Onboard, The Senator, The Governor, and The President. Her acting credits include Saving My Marriage, Hunting the Angel, Royal Ploy, and The Cow Girls, where she worked alongside Nollywood heavyweights like Jerry Williams, Segun Arinze, and Linda Osifo.
