Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician Piesie Esther has opened up about the challenges of dealing with social media negativity and the ongoing conversation about fashion in gospel music.
Speaking during an interview on 3FM, the Waye Me Yie hitmaker shared insights into how she navigates online criticism while staying true to her mission.
“I have realized that some of these people who post comments on social media are paid to bring you down,” she remarked.
“Some comments make you wonder why the person is writing this when you are just doing your work and promoting it. So, I don’t see a reason to bother myself with such people. I will just let it go and stay focused on what I am doing.”
The singer also addressed the criticism directed at female gospel musicians, particularly claims that they prioritize fashion over ministry.

She firmly defended the need for gospel artists to look presentable, emphasizing the value of dressing well in alignment with their message.
“There is nothing wrong with gospel artistes, especially females, dressing to look good,” Piesie noted. “The reason is that it adds some focus to you.
“It draws some people closer to you. There is nothing wrong with seeing a gospel musician who has dressed well. You don’t have to expose your body, but look good because the way you dress is how you will be addressed.”
