John Mahama, the NDC’s candidate for president in 2024, is deeply by what he contends to be the mismanagement of the country by President Akufo-Addo since he assumed office in January 2017.
He said, Nana Addo has ruined the country’s economy. He claims that Nana Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) deceived the people of Ghana into electing them to power and that the NPP has since horribly failed to fulfill its campaign promises.
In an interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa on the KSM show, Mahama expressed concern over the country’s high unemployment rate, despite the fact that the NPP had promised the people many new job possibilities.
“I mean, today, this is the highest unemployment in the history of Ghana. So it was just [about] saying anything to win political power,” he stated.
He claimed that the NPP had flooded the country with advertisements and was willing to promise the Ghanaian people the world in order to get elected.
“I was watching a video of John Boadu saying, Oh! Is it about jobs? If it’s about jobs, don’t worry. There’ll be so many jobs that Ghanaians can do, and we will have to go and bring foreigners to come and work to fill the rest of the vacancies,” he noted.
According to him, this occurrence proves that Nana Addo has failed miserably, however, he urged Ghanaians to vote for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the hopes of a better future. Mahama is sure he will be elected in 2024 and will “rebuild” the country’s democracy and economy if given the chance.
