Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has received condolences from prominent figures following the passing of his wife, former First Lady Theresa Kufuor.
A state funeral was held in her honor at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra on November 16, 2023. The ceremony began with a procession at 7 a.m., followed by a burial mass at 9 a.m. Numerous Ghanaians, including politicians and individuals from various backgrounds, gathered at the State House to pay their final respects to Theresa Kufuor.
The final funeral rites will take place at Heroes Park in Kumasi on November 18. Theresa Kufuor passed away at the age of 87 on October 1, surrounded by her family at her home in Peduase.
A Requiem Mass was held on November 15 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments, Accra, where notable personalities, politicians, members of the New Patriotic Party, and family and friends of the late former First Lady came together to honor her memory.
Theresa Kufuor was married to former President John Kufuor in 1962 and served as Ghana’s First Lady from 2001 to 2009. See photos below;
