The Wheels of Justice Grind Efficiently – Attorney General Pursues Corruption Cases

The Attorney General has ramped up efforts to hold individuals accountable for financial misconduct as security agencies begin questioning suspects linked to corruption investigations.

This follows a review of government-led inquiries into financial irregularities, signalling a renewed commitment to ensuring justice.

Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed the development in an interview on JoyNews, emphasizing that due process was being followed.

“At least three cases have attracted public attention,” he stated.

One of the most notable cases involves the National Service Scheme (NSS) scandal, where an accountant and a former deputy executive director have been taken in for questioning.

Ofosu assured that their detainment was lawful and that no complaints of rights violations had been raised by their lawyers.

“The first is the National Service Scheme (NSS) scandal, where two individuals, including an accountant and a former deputy executive director, have been taken in for questioning.

This has been done lawfully, and so far, I have not heard any complaints from their lawyers about rights violations,” he explained.

He reiterated the Attorney General’s commitment to ensuring strong legal grounds before pursuing prosecutions.

“The Attorney General will not take a case to court unless there is strong evidence of wrongdoing,” he stressed.

However, he emphasized that financial misconduct cannot be overlooked and must be addressed.

“But when there are clear signs of financial loss to the state, investigations must be carried out, and those responsible must answer for their actions,” Ofosu added.

As public demand for accountability grows, the government appears determined to follow through on corruption cases. While acknowledging the slow pace of legal proceedings, Ofosu assured Ghanaians of the effectiveness of the justice system.

“The wheels of justice grind slowly, but they grind efficiently,” he concluded.
