In an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, entertainer and outspoken critic Bulldog, real name Lawrence Hanson, expressed his discontent over a controversial statue of former President Nana Akufo-Addo erected by the roadside.
According to Bulldog, the statue is an unnecessary use of state funds, especially in a time when critical infrastructure such as roads is in dire need of repair.
“I have plans to petition the ORAL team to investigate whoever commissioned that statue,” Bulldog revealed during the interview.
“You cannot use state funds to erect such a useless statue. When the road there is bad. For eight years some of us have been talking, people are now talking and we will be talking.”

His frustrations stem not only from the perceived waste of resources but also from the lack of improvement in basic infrastructure, which he feels should take precedence over symbolic gestures.
The statue, which was put up as a tribute to the former president, has stirred public debate on whether the funds used could have been better allocated to fix roads, improve health care, or tackle other pressing societal challenges.

Bulldog did not stop there. He indicated his intention to take action, calling his lawyer when he first learned about the statue’s installation.
“I called my lawyer when I heard that a statue was erected for the former President and asked that if you destroyed state property, what is the crime?
He said misdemeanour and others,” Bulldog shared. His statement suggests that if the statue is considered wasteful or unjustified, it could be subject to scrutiny, with Bulldog even hinting at potential legal action.
