At a youth thanksgiving service organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), popular pastor Rev. Obofour lauded the party for its approach to leadership, attributing its 2024 electoral victory to the values of humility and respect.
Speaking passionately to the gathered audience, Rev. Obofour highlighted how these virtues resonated with voters and played a decisive role in shaping the party’s success.
“I commend the NDC for demonstrating humility and respect, values that I believe will continue to sustain their political strength,” he began, emphasizing the fundamental role of character in governance.
According to Rev. Obofour, trust is the bedrock of political success, and humility is the key to building that trust.

“When you serve with humility and respect, the people will trust you, and that trust will carry you through difficult times. This is what ensures a long-lasting political reign.”
Rev. Obofour pointed specifically to the leadership style of former President John Mahama, who led the NDC in the 2024 elections.
He attributed Mahama’s appeal to his grounded and approachable nature. “John Mahama’s humility is the reason the NDC won the 2024 elections.
People saw a leader who is grounded, approachable, and focused on serving them, and they rewarded that with their votes,” Rev. Obofour declared, drawing cheers from the youth.
In contrast, he warned against arrogance in politics, which he described as a recipe for failure. “Arrogance only breeds defeat.
When politicians think they are above the people, they fail to connect with them, and that’s when defeat sets in,” he stated, urging the NDC to remain connected to their grassroots base.
