The Causes, Symptoms, And Treatment Of Blue Balls

, Ghana Street Journal

The term “blue balls” is commonly used to refer to a brief sensation of pain or discomfort in the testicles or pelvic area that certain men may experience following prolonged sexual arousal without ejaculation.

This condition is known as epididymal hypertension in medical terms. It is crucial to acknowledge that, although it may cause discomfort, it is typically not a severe or dangerous illness.

Keep in mind that “blue balls” isn’t a life-threatening illness and that the pain you may experience will likely go away on its own. However, if the pain is severe or lasts more than a few days, consult a doctor to check the testicles to make sure nothing else is wrong.

Symptoms:

The main symptom of “blue balls” is a sensation of discomfort or pain in the testicles or pelvic region. Increased blood flow to the genital area during sexual arousal results in the expansion of blood vessels and increased pressure, which frequently causes discomfort.

Causes:

The main factor contributing to the occurrence of “blue balls” is an extended period of sexual stimulation without the release of semen through ejaculation. During sexual arousal in men, there is an increase in blood flow to the genital region, causing the blood vessels in the testicles to become swollen. When sexual stimulation lasts too long without reaching climax, the buildup of blood can lead to pain and a heavy sensation.

Treatment:

The pain of “blue balls” usually doesn’t last long and goes away by itself. But there are a few things you can try that could help with the symptoms:

  • Ejaculation: This is the most efficient method of easing the discomfort. Masturbation or other sexual activity can help achieve this.
  • Rest and Relaxation: Reducing the amount of sexual stimulation and letting the body return to its natural state can help ease symptoms.
  • Cool Compress: One possible remedy for genital swelling and pain is a cool compress applied to the affected area.

It is important for a man to get medical help right away if he has testicular pain that is persistent or getting worse, swelling, or other serious symptoms. Testicular torsion or infection are two other possible diagnoses that could require medical attention if these symptoms persist.
