TGMA Finally Passes Verdict On Amerado’s ‘Kwaku Ananse’ Song Following His Petition

Amerado would heave a sigh of relief following the favourable response to his complaint about the omission of the original version of his Kwaku Ananse song at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Tru News Report has obtained a response from the award organizers acknowledging their error and providing their suggestions.

According to a statement posted on Instagram by the board, they have reevaluated the situation and have decided to nominate Kwaku Ananse by the rapper to replace the remix version in the Best Highlife Category.

Additionally, the song has been nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year Category.

Following the release of the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominations, a one-week window for Errors & Omissions was opened. This saw several submissions from the stakeholder community.

After careful evaluation of all submissions, the board confirms that there were neither errors nor omissions in the nominations list, except for the following: Lonely Road by O’Kenneth & Xlim Kid This collaborative submission, initially filed as a featured work (Lonely Road, by O’Kenneth ft Xlim Kid), has been the subject of a correction.

The management of both artists pointed out that ‘Lonely Road’ was a joint project by O’Kenneth and Xlim Kid and not a feature. The Board noted this and has thus corrected the nomination to reflect ‘Lonely Road, by O’Kenneth and Xlim Kid’.

Kwaku Ananse by Amerado The Board considered and nominated ‘Kwaku Ananse’ remix in the Best Highlife Song category instead of the song’s original version. This affected the song’s consideration in the Most Popular Song of the Year category.

The Board has reviewed this and consequently nominated ‘Kwaku Ananse’ by Amerado to replace the remix version in the Best Highlife Category. The song has also been nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year Category.

The Board wishes to always reiterate its commitment to fairness in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. We are deeply grateful to stakeholders in the music community for their commitment to this scheme over the past 25 years, especially for their active participation during the recent window of Errors & Omissions.

Once again, congratulations to all nominees for their outstanding work in 2023. We wish each nominee the best of luck at the 25th-anniversary edition of the TGMA in the coming weeks.
